Movie the Bucket List

The Bucket List is a movie all about two men who live their lives as if they are going to be gone tomorrow. It’s a movie about two men with cancer that share a hospital room from both having cancer. When finding out they do not have much longer to live, decide that they are going to pursue a bucket list that one of the men had made. The two men Edward and Carter are complete opposites. Carter is a mechanic that has been married for forty-five years and has two children. Edward has tons of money and has been divorced four times, with a daughter that no longer talks to him. He owns the hospital that the two men end up in with the motto he stands by â€Å"Two beds to a room, no exceptions. † This motto is what caused him ending up in a room with Carter which he did not like at all at first. The one thing that brings them together is knowing they have to live their lives up and do what they have always wanted to do before dying. They became best friends unexpectedly and did more in their last few months before dying then some people can say they have done in their entire lifetime. You should always live your life as if you are going to die tomorrow. Not in the sense that you should be miserable thinking your never going to be able to see the next day, but you should make your life the best it can be. This is what I have learned from The Bucket List, that you need to live each moment like it is your last. Some people never get the chance to find out when they will die and they do not always get to accomplish things in their life that they would like to do. However, some people would not like to know the date that they will no longer be around. Dieing is scary, and when you know when your going to, some people take it hard and instead of making the best of it, they get depressed and do nothing else with their life. This movie in a sense shows you need to make the best of it. Making a bucket list would be a good idea, so you know what you would like to get accomplished before you do â€Å"kick the bucket. † Making your life as joyful, fun and enjoyable as you can is important. The Bucket List was not made just to be about two men that are dying from cancer, but to set an example to live your life to its highest potential. Yes, the men do have cancer and are not going to live for years, but they get to accomplish what they would like to do. They go to Egypt, traveling the world, skydiving, race fast cars and eventually Edward meets up with his daughter again and granddaughter. Do not hold grudges with anyone, because you never know when something might happen and you do not have a chance to fix it. When you get a chance to do something fun, do it. Travel the country, see places and things you have never seen. Do not just lay around dying trying to comfort everyone around you when at the time you cannot even find it in you to comfort yourself. Cancer, of course is sad, painful and a tragic experience no one wants to have to deal with in their family. But the hidden meaning in the movie would be that even though you know your going to die, do not just lay around waiting for it to happen. You can still find it in yourself to have a little more fun. I do not believe I have found as much joy in my life as I would like. My childhood has been great and my family is more amazing than I would be able to ask for. However, I am only eighteen, I would like to get married, have children of my own, finish college, and travel the world. If I was to pass today, I would not think that my life would have been complete. There is still huge areas of my life that I would like to go through before I never get the chance to again. These two men make a great bucket list, one that has some things I would personally like to accomplish as well. My life has brought joy to my family, I know my parents were ecstatic when I was born, but I want to bring joy to my own family. My kids, my husband, hopefully even my grandchildren, will eventually be brought joy by myself. This is something I could only hope to have happen. The Bucket List, although is a sad movie, has its joyful and funny moments. It sets a life example to get out and do some exciting things with your life. And a deadline is the perfect way to get your butt out to do them.

Beauty May Only Be Skin Deep

While many postulate that beauty is not the most important thing in a person's life, reality sometimes dealt people with a hard blow. New parents are always anxious that their child would look good not only for their sake but mostly for the child's sake. Society may well deny that beauty is not a hindrance to success and popularity but even as people are growing up, the good-looking girls and boys get more attention and are forgiven their mischiefs with the proper contrite looks on angelic faces. Relatives and friends would always remark on how beautiful a child is.Even if grown ups know that beauty is just skin deep, it is deeply entrenched in society that it becomes automatic and a point of conversation. In the job market, applicants try their best to look good because it could only be their edge against many others. The Economist says in an article that if appearance is not important in a job, why would people take the trouble of dressing up? Particularly in jobs that involve deal ing with people, employers would require, without including it in the requirements, that the candidates should be pleasing to the eyes. For instance, a flight attendant need not finish college but she must have perfect skin and teeth. For no apparent reason other than having perfect skin is good to look at, airline companies would prefer a college drop-out with stunning good looks rather than a comparatively more intelligent person whose physical appearance is not as flawless. In interpersonal relationships, people tend to gravitate toward beautiful people because they are generally thought to be more fun to be with. People who possess natural beauty could turn out fun and outgoing if they are not blinded and spoilt by too much adoration in their formative years. Many gorgeous celebrities are often caught behaving disorderly in public because their adoring public make sometimes make them blind to their faults. The American Involvement in the Politics of Middle East Essay

The American Involvement in the Politics of Middle East - Essay Example When Bush declared war on Iraq, experts say he was supporting the Jews. He wanted to assist the Israelites. High-ranking officials in Bush's administration were Jews. The officials took part in making the decision to invade Iraq. Iraq was Israel's chief enemy. They proved to be high economic competitors to Israel. It affected the economy of Israel because of these economic competitions. The war was like an activity of saving Israel . Saddam Hussein was not a major threat to America. He posed only a risk of launching a nuclear attack towards Israel. America did a wrong thing in capturing and executing Saddam. Bush wanted to prove that his administration was supporting the growth of Israel. He supported every action that Israel Prime Minister, Sharon, wanted to do. In many of his speeches, Bush reinstated his wish of a strong bond between the Jews and Americans. US had an opinion that the security of the world depends on the security of Israel. The US had strategic plans to fight terro rism in the Middle East, which posed a threat to Israel. Terrorism was a global menace. US viewed Israel as a strategic country to fight terror in Middle East. The Jewish state had planned war on Iraq long time ago. It all began in 1996 when Israel's government planned an attack on Iraq. The government of Israel put the strategy into a paper, and the respective authors of the document later became influential figures in Bush administration.US foreign policy is another issue that contributed significantly to the learning of the course.

The career ladder Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

The career ladder - Research Paper Example Career ladder is a concept where allied health field workers have to work to achieve a better position. Specific goals are set up for these health workers which they have to achieve so that they can become successful. After completing the goals of the career ladder the individual can advance to a better position along with a better salary. Career ladder has been implemented in many fields and it has been found that it is quite successful. It has its own benefits and drawbacks which are discussed subsequently (Zellmer 2002; Swanson et al 1991; Fitzgerald 2006). Benefits and Drawbacks of the Career Ladder The career ladder concept in the allied health disciplines is very important to practice clinical knowledge. Patients who are coming for treatment require expertise of all the departments so that they can be cured and every allied health field worker has to play his specific role to cure the patient. The career ladder concept helps the workers to work with integrity so that they can a chieve a better grade in the society. It also helps the workers to become familiar with the concepts of health care so that they can excel in their particular field. Being a pharmacist the career leader would help him to achieve clinical knowledge which he can implement in his practice. ... A career ladder helps the individuals to go through different tasks where he can accomplish different goals. These goals would help him to receive a variety of rewards and perks. In other words career ladders are possibly a way through which different workers can advance in their field. Career ladders also help to increase job satisfaction as has been found through different researches. On the other hand it can be seen that career ladder can also bring drawbacks to the allied health field workers. The workers who do not go through this career ladder concept would not be able to excel in their field and would remain on the position that they have joined. Some people do not want to take part in this concept and would make them lose interest in their job. Similarly people who cannot qualify this ladder concept would be further discouraged in trying to excel in this field. A career ladder gives way to specific individuals so that they can progress whereas some are still left behind becau se every individual in the field cannot be a leader. The workers have to take extra load in order to achieve the goals of a career ladder and this can result in dissatisfaction (Smith & Shane 1989; Zellmer 2002; Buchan 1997). Career Ladder as Implemented in DVA Career ladder has been used by many organizations and one of the organization which is using it is the Department of Veteran Affairs. The Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) has such a career ladder established for pharmacists where they can advance in their field with specific requirements. It is seen that pharmacists are required to produce effective clinical knowledge and expertise and if these are not integrated in their

Service Marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Service Marketing - Essay Example The company has been globally accepted and has a high visibility of their brand. (Source from website http://instruction.bus.wisc.edu/obdemo/may%20not%20need_2/starbucks.htm) Starbucks has been renowned for its customer service. A "service" is any act of performance that one party can offer to another, that is essentially intangible and does not result in the ownership of anything. Its production may or may not be tied to a physical product. ( Kotler, 2000) By creating a unique atmosphere, Starbucks has differentiated themselves from their competitors and catered to their customer's preferences. A company's offering to the market place will include some kind of service. It may be a major or minor part of the product. It may be purely tangible goods that require no service, a mix of goods and services in varying proportions, or just pure service. Services can be equipment based or people based. Some services require the client's presence while some do not. Services may be a personal need or a business need. It could be for profit or non-profit and be private or public depending on ownership. ( Kotler, 2000) Intangibility- Services cannot be seen, tasted, felt, heard or smelled. This makes evaluating service quality very difficult. Service quality is therefore ascertained by the potential consumers by perusal of other evidences like place, people, equipment communication etc. as indicators of quality. Inseparability- Services are produced and consumed at the same time and cannot be separated from their providers. There is no stocking or distribution. The provider and client must interact for the service to occur and therefore both parties become part of the service provided. Both of them influence the outcome of the service. Variability - As the consumer and producer are both part of the service, the quality of services depends largely on who, when, where and how they are provided. Therefore, service providers become the representative of the organization as a whole and service quality depends on the quality of the service providers themselves. Perishability- Services must be consumed as they are provided and cannot be stored for future use. Therefore, a missed opportunity will create a loss of service that needed to be rendered. The demand and supply needs to be carefully monitored and services offered as needed during the time period. Non-Transferability- Services cannot be owned by the user. An excellent service has good retentivity though and acts as an incentive to the customer to opt for the same service again. Starbucks has survived and grown in the new economy because of its innovative capability to adapt to a dynamically changing environment. Their customer-focused strategy has allowed them to garner sales selling the humble coffee at a premium value due to the perception of value inculcated in the customer. Quality of Service Providing the level of service to desired expectations is of prime importance. Quality management is a way of doing business that allows an organization to design products and services that meet or exceed customer needs and build operational processes that achieve high levels of performance and quality. A good service company understands the psychology of the consumer, adds in a qualitative

Business Questions on Ethics, Strategic Plan etc Essay

Business Questions on Ethics, Strategic Plan etc - Essay Example Religion is not just about beliefs. In fact, the religion guides its followers towards a complete way of life that is ethically justified and is meant to spread peace in the society. The different standards of ethics amongst communities dwelling in the same place fundamentally arise from the difference of religious teachings of the different communities. People living in a certain place have their customs, values, and traditions that are a reflection of the geographic, political, and socioeconomic history of that place. Over the time, the customs and traditions approved by a vast majority of the people are recognized as ethics in that society. Ethics play a very important role in the business today. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that the world today is not as healthy and clean place to live in as it once was. This is primarily attributed to the false and objectionable business practices that have been in place over a long time in the history. There is a greater emphasis from the society upon healthy business activities to reduce the negative environmental effects of the business. The term used for environment-friendly businesses is â€Å"green business†. Companies are encouraged to compete with one another to become greener as it is seen as one of the pre-requisites of success for the company. On the other hand, businesses today are expected to fulfill the demands of corporate social responsibility, which essentially means that a business that is only profitable to the business owner today is not sufficient. In order for the business owner to be successful and gain competitive advantage, it is imperative that the business benefits the society as well. It may benefit the society in a number of ways that include but are not limited to reducing unemployment, finding the cure of diseases, creating knowledge, and doing research and development for the benefit of the society. Over the time, people have become more conscious about their health and safet y which has imparted a need for the regulatory bodies to oblige the entrepreneurs to abide by the rules of ethics so that the business can be made greener, and its positive role in the development of the society as a whole can be enhanced. Q. 2 Answer The strategic plan can be considered as a kind of business plan, though there are certain differences between the two. The main purpose of making a strategic plan is to implement an organization’s strategic direction and manage it, thus it is made once the organization or business has been established already whereas the business plan is required at the stage of starting a new business, gathering the required funds, and directing its operations. In this way, the strategic plan is helpful for the businesses that are already established but need to be expanded but the business plan makes an entrepreneur prepared to commence a new business. â€Å"The business plan examines the business’ potential for success, the competing industry and the business’ competitive advantages† (Smith). The timeframe covered by the strategic plan is different from that covered by the business plan. While the time covered by a strategic plan ranges from three to five years in general, the business plan is commonly made to last for a year only. The strategic plan is critical to enlarge the revenues and maximize the return on investment of a business as it prioritizes the resources while the business plan is needed when the entrepreneur needs funding. The strategic pla

Contract law part 2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Contract law part 2 - Essay Example A meeting was arranged for Monday Spet. 14th to discuss the matter. At the meeting Brian told Alley that if alley did not accept to pay the  £14,000 claim food galore will no longer agree to make delivers on credit to alley and that the delivery for the next day will not be made. Alley was convinced that the claim by foods galore is unjustified; however, as he needed the credit arrangement offered by foods galore and since he did not have enough time to look for alternative supplies, he signed an agreement admitting that he owed foods galore  £14,000. Part of the agreement was a schedule for payment installment on a weekly basis. Alley paid the full amount of  £14,000 over a period of two years. One year later he commenced proceedings against Foods Galore seeking to recover the money on the grounds he signed the agreement under duress. Advise Foods Galore. Foods Galore has already intimated Alley regarding the invoicing error that happened two years back and gave advanced notice for the same. However, Alley was not convinced for this additional dues claimed by Food Galore. According to English court of law, the buyer (Alley) or seller (Foods Galore) has the choice to appeal his case if the terms of the contract are violated (Pollock, 1952)) between two persons or parties. The violation of terms of contract in tender calls is governed ultimately by English contract law. In the present case study, it is clearly apparent that Alley has already agreed that he was having due to Foods Galore and hence the Alley committed a mistake by agreeing to pay in accordance with the contract law provisions. However, Foods Galore was challenged for its claim by Alley after two years which is a matter of concern. There is every possibility that Foods Galore may be drawn to court of law for reconsideration of his decision. Hence necessary legal steps hav e to be taken by Foods Galore to get protection. Foods Galore has not

Manitoba unemployment rate forecast Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Manitoba unemployment rate forecast - Essay Example By the year 2010, the province’s economy experienced a 2.4% growth per year. Manitoba’s economy remained unchanged amid the slowdown in the country’s economy. The province also registered a 2.4% increase in labor income. In addition, the economy has experienced an increase in employment levels due to increased demand for skilled laborers. Consequently, the unemployment levels have gradually reduced over the years. However, there are minimal changes in the unemployment rate in the province since 2010. The province has registered various changes in the overall labor force (Marcil, n.p.). Employment in an economy represents a number of eligible individuals who are willing to work and can be engaged in full time or part-time labor at prevailing wage rates. This is because the economy needs human capital where individuals play a part in the manufacture of goods and services for the economy. At this level, the economy experiences full employment where all available labor resources are utilized in an economically efficient way. On the other hand, unemployment is the number of individuals in an economy who are ready and capable to work, but cannot find a job. Therefore, the jobless individuals who are unwilling to work in an economy are not classified in the unemployment category. Unemployment is a key measure of economic health of a region or country. There are three types of unemployment namely frictional, structural, and cyclical unemployment (Kennedy 37). The frictional unemployment is a short-run unemployment resulting from the process of searching for a new employme nt by individuals. Structural unemployment represents a persistent lack of jobs whenever the incomes in employment markets do not match up the supply and demand. Finally, cyclic unemployment refers to the short-term unemployment related to the vicissitudes of the market. The unemployment rate determines the levels of unemployment in an economy (Kennedy 37).

Michigan History2 Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Michigan History2 - Research Paper Example The area was also important to the French because it acted as a link between the Great lakes in the West and the Illinois County in the South. The area grew to become a military town, housing the French military. The inhabitants of this town would have looked forward to having one of the greatest commercial centers and a Military Fort. In the late 17th Century, the French were abandoning their forts in America. Viewing this as an invitation to the British to occupy the evacuated Forts, Cadillac requested the French government to allow him to build a new settlement in the Northern part of America. He chose to settle in the area near Lake Huron, then known as Le Detroit. He chose this area because of its fertile land, its hospitable climate, and its strategic location near the river. He brought Farmers, traders, soldiers, artisans and Native Americans from Montreal to settle in the place which later became known as Detroit. The final resting place of this famous Jesuit priest who helped convert Indians to Catholicism has been a subject of controversy over the years. He died on 18th may, 1675, aged 38 after enduring a fight with Tuberculosis. In 1972, bones believed by many scholars to be his were excavated at St. Ignace. Banking Industry in Recession Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Banking Industry in Recession - Coursework Example Since that time, concerned officials have been attempting to come up with solutions to the difficulties that the banking industry as well as the global financial system is facing. The banking industry has also been going through a process of reformation lasting over two decades. Market liberalisation, as well as the induction of latest information technologies led to a strong trade growth resulting in several mergers and acquisitions in addition to off shoring potential. Seeing the trends of previous years, reformation in financial institutions is persistent. Reducing the consequences of this recession has been easier for nations and workplaces with well-built channel of communication (Downey, p. 94, 2011). The recession started several mutual projects of social associates. During the year 2009, 93 percent of the companies within the banking industry initiated joint bargaining against an average of 84 percent within other industries. Another consideration within the banking industry is that a works council covers 97 percent of companies that have more than 50 workers. Markets will have to go through a period of reformation to consider the facts of the impact of recession. Bank liquidity is currently known as being a lot more significant within the banking concept than in the previous years, when banks gave unsatisfactory attention to the need to expand financing sources. Market participants should become responsive to the changing wave within the banking industry as well as adjust their policy and approach consequently. A need for stronger guideline is predictable as an increase in guideline is the rational outcome of a recession. Now, there is only the aim to inflict more guidelines on the banking industry although its precise form is not as confirmed yet. The most competent approach would be for the United States as well as for the European Union to synchronize their course of action; or else, â€Å"banks will concentrate operations in the jurisdiction with the least restrictive regime† (McLean, p. 36, 2010). In the initial instance, the market requires to stay away from the development of another ‘Shadow Banking system’. Moving ahead, one can look ahead to that any organization that takes influential positions within financial instruments will be positioned under the control of the state supervisory body. Any business or legal entity that operates like a bank or operates like a channel for a bank will be put through the regulatory system. Barclays resisted the financial recession by declaring solid returns; regardless of the banking industry recession, Barclays made pre-tax returns of ? 1.6 billion during the last quarter in the year 2009. This takes its earnings of the same year to ? 4,646 - 18 percent less than a year ago - because of ? 5.9 billion of bad debts (McLean, p. 36, 2010). However, while Barclay's United Kingdom retail section witnessed returns tumble, its investment as well as commercial banking divisi on goes on to do well. Moreover, with the profits from the sale of its International Shareholders division still to come, Britain's second largest bank seems to heading in the right direction for a record-breaking year.

Skills in customer service: A handbook Communication skills below please explain how each step would be used to provide excellent customer service skills. Face to face Face to face helps provide excellent customer service by delivering/developing good interpersonal relationships. It allows the customer to engage with the agent better. In addition it allows the customer to feel important because the agent has given dedicated time to that customer. By having a face to face it helps the agent gage what the customer needs and provide better customer service as a result. Telephone e.g. call centre A telephone call to a call centre allows the customer to discuss their needs as and when it suits them. For example they are not governed by the shop opening times of Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. As it can be harder to understand communications via phone it means that the agent needs to listen more meticulously, this should therefore help the customer feel understood and appreciated. Building rapport By building a rapport the customer feels as if the agent is interested in what the customer has to say and the customer feels as if they associate with the agent. By the customer feeling understood the customer is more likely to be free coming with information and this will assist the agent in providing the customer a better service. Effective listening By the agent demonstrating good listening skills the customer feels as if he/she is important and that the agent wishes to assist the customer. Non-verbal communication is used around % of the time. By keeping good eye contact with the customer you help to develop a sense of interest with that customer. In addition by ensuring that you do not cross your arms and leave your body as open as possible. This is because crossed arms demonstrates that you are feeling defensive and this creates an atmosphere of anticipation and potentially physiological discomfort. Written Communication It is important to ensure that all written communications are written with good grammatical structure, that there is no spelling issues and that correct punctuation is used. It is important to use the correct salutations as to not cause offense to the customer. By ensuring that all documents are correctly structured helps to ensure that the customer is dealing a boni fied professional organisation. Complaint Handling Which skills could you show throughout each procedure? Listening When dealing with a customer complaint it is important to show that you care. One important part of this to allow the customer to talk. By listening to what the customer has to say you can then start to work out how to deal with this problem. It will also allow you to prepare any questions you need to ask in order to develop the full scenario of the compliant. Questioning By asking the customer relevant questions you can help develop a case file you need to best assist the customer. It also demonstrates to the customer that you have been listening to their problem and that you wish to help them resolve it where possible Empathising By empathising with the customer you demonstrate to the customer that you care about what has happened and that you wish to do all within you power to help them. Empathising can help the customer to feel as if they are being taken seriously. By the customer feeling as if they are being taken seriously it means that they can believe that the situation will be dealt with in a professional manner. Understanding the problem By understanding the problem at hand the agent can work out the best solution to resolve the problem. This may mean talking with other colleagues or referring the matter. The agent can ensure that all segments of the situation are accounted for and dealt with. Taking control of the situation By having one member of staff being in charge of dealing with the complaint it helps to ensure that the situation is dealt with correctly. It also reassures the customer that they will be dealt with in a professional and competent manner. Agreeing solutions Once the employee has deemed at least one suitable solution Follow up Presentation of yourself Show how a member of staff should be presented Presentation of the organisation Below explain how the environment should be presented The exterior: The exterior of the store should be clean, this means ensuring that windows and doors are washed and that the path is swept and looks presentable. Window displays should be structured: They should be level, crisp and eye catching. The information should be clear and concise. The interior: The interior should be well lit. The floors should be hovered and kept clear from rubbish and clutter. The racks should be well stocked and the brochures on display should not be ripped or creased. Those that are ripped or creased should be removed. The brochures should have a structure for easier allocating, i.e. brochures that are for worldwide travel should be in the worldwide travel section where as brochures that are UK tourism should be located in the UK tourism section. Staff should ensure that when they place brochures on the shelf’s they follow the companies racking policy. Staff desks should be neat and tidy. This will help customers feel as if they are dealing with professionals. Teamwork Please explain the importance of the following when working in a team – ensure you explain each step and the possible outcome. Motivation Motivation is important because it helps regulate an organisations productivity. Keeping teams motivated means that everyone feels responsible and helps staff develop a sense of importance and means that they put all there effort into their work. By developing motivation sales are more likely to be higher and therefore the agent is of more benefit to the agency Team roles When roles are defined to staff it helps to develop a structure, in return this helps to define what each employee is responsible for doing to achieve the business goals and objectives. By developing a clear structure of who is responsible for what role means that employees can do work without necessarily interfering with others work, this means that work is done to a quicker and higher standard. Delegation of tasks By delegating staff with tasks means that they have clear objectives and tasks that they must complete in order to be successful. By ensuring that employees know what is expected of them they can develop a plan on how they will achieve this task and if possible exceed it. This is then beneficial to the employer as it means that revenue is high, staff and customer moral is also high and will most likely lead to repeat business as the customer is happy with the outcome. Lines of authority By having set outlines of authority it helps all subordinates to know who they speak to regarding problems In the long run this assists with ensuring that the organisation maintains effective communication. By ensuring that clear lines of communication are kept it allows for problems to be dealt with in a quick and easy manner. This means that a customer can have their problems dealt with in an effective manner. This will ensure that the customer remains satisfied with any problems that may have occurred. What are the benefits of teamwork to colleagues, customers and the organisation? The benefit of teamwork for colleagues: By employees working together it allows them to tackle an issue with multiple views. This can assist them in finding the best outcome for that given situation. Team work can help employees develop their communication skills. This can help them to become more assertive and feel as if they settle within the organisation. By ensuring teamwork is a strong ethic it helps to develop a multi-cultural environment where diversity has a strong place within the organisation. By developing a diverse environment it helps all employees to bond. The benefit of teamwork to customers: Good levels of team work means that employees feel happier and this can be sensed by customers. By ensuring that customers feel good vibrations from customers from employee’s means that a customer is more likely to feel comfortable and purchase. By employees working as a team it allows the employees to develop their competencies and demonstrates professionalism to customers. This helps to make customers feel more confident with the service they are to be offered. The benefit of teamwork to organisations: By an organisation having staff that work well within a team setting it allows the business to develop a good culture that allows for productivity to be at an optimum and in return means that profitability is likely to be higher. This means that employees are more able to satisfy the needs of the customer and the customer more likely to offer repeat business. If employees work as part of a team it can help an employer abide with discrimination laws as the employees feel more connected and less likely to discriminate against one and other. Business Skills What is the importance of having these skills for an organisation? Where could they help you within your employment? Completion of documentation e.g. tickets, forms Use of IT e.g. email, computerised reservations system (CRS), internet Business standards e.g. accuracy, legibility, business conventions

The Whale Rider (2002) Summary and Analysis

The Whale Rider (2002) Summary and Analysis â€Å"The whale rider† Abstract â€Å"Whale Rider† is a drama film of the 2002, based on the novel of Witi Ihimaera, and directed by Niki Caro. The world premià ¨re was on September 2002, at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film gained much respect from critics, it went on in film festivals such as Sundance and Tribecca, and gained international recognition. It has a lot of awards through the world: BAFTA Childrens Award, Best Feature Film 2003; Broadcast Film Critics Association Award, Best Young Actor/Actress (Keisha Castle-Hughes) 2004; Chicago Film Critics Association Award, Most Promising Performer (Keisha Castle-Hughes) 2004; Cinemanila International Film Festival, Special Jury Prize 2003; Humanitas Prize, Sundance Film Category 2003; Independent Spirit Award, Best Foreign Film (New Zealand) 2004; Mexico City International Contemporary Film Festival and others. â€Å"Whale Rider† is a contemporary re-telling of the 1000-year-old legend about legendary first ancestor named Paikea. This film combines elements of history, traditions, depicting them from the point of view of a child, that sees the world not in black and white terms. On the other hand, it is a drama about relationship of a young girl and her grandfather. Heroes and characters The film †Whale rider† is considered to be a personal and family drama, showing that families even in the most far away parts of the world have similar relations and personal problems. All People have the same emotions: they upset and cry, they feel happy and laugh. A Maori family, despite their beliefs or rituals, can be just like an American family, or any other one. The story takes place in the small town Whangara in New Zealand. Many centuries ago a legendary ancestor named Paikea brought there the Maori people, who still lives there. The myth about Paikea says that he was rescued by a whale, after his canoe was lost in the sea. He rode the whale and founded the Maori people, and from that day the tradition exists: an eldest son is the Chief of the tribe and the leader. Once deep within the ocean, a herd of whales was responding, and when the whales began stranding on the beach, this seemed to be a signal of an apocalyptic end to his tribe. Until one person prepares to make the sacrifice to save the peoplethe Whale Rider. â€Å"Whale Rider†shows emotional experience of a young Maori girl, Pai, who is the main character and the most bright personality in the film. She struggles to gain the approval of her grandfather and her people. From the beginning, Paikea, or Pai, is a young girl in a mans world. Though she is loved by her grandfather named Koro, who is the Chief of the Maori tribe, she is not accepted as a future leader, and as a person as well. A special attention should be paid to a the concept of shadows in the story, as it has an important meaning. The symbolism from the beginning foreshadows Pais future as a leader: a close up of the crying babys green eye mirrors the close up of a whales eye. So the focus of the eye humanizes the whale and connects the young girl to the animal. As Pai grows older, her defiant character of a leader becomes evident. Pai herself is interested in the leadership, learning traditional songs and dances, and Taiaha fighting a traditional stick fighting method used by the Maori men. Pai feels, that she can become the leader, but it is impossible for a woman to do so, and she is given little encouragement by her grandfather. Paikea: â€Å"My name is Paikea Apirana, and I come from a long line of chiefs stretching all the way back to the whale rider. Im not a prophet, but I know that our people will keep going forward, all together, with all of their strength.† Even when Pai becomes rather proficient in taiana fighting, this still does not prove to Koro that she is good enough to be a leader of the people. Koro, who is the Chief of the Maori tribe, is the other important character of the film. The conflict between him and Pai is caused by Koros refusal to acknowledge Pai as the inheritor of the tradition, Koro is blinded by prejudice, and nobody can convince him that Pai is the natural heir. First of all, because Paikea is a woman, she is not fit to be the Maori leader. The old Chief is convinced that the tribes misfortunes began at Pais birth, and calls for his people to bring their firstborn boys to him for training. He is certain that through a process of teaching the ancient chants, tribal lore and warrior techniques, the future leader of their tribe will be revealed to him. This confidence was shattered when all boys failed in his final test of leadership, they have lost Koros closest symbolic representation of his faith: the whales tooth. Koros eyes, mirrored in these events, portray a great sadness to the films audience. The characters and relationships are rather complex and intricate, they are developing through the film, and the audience makes a â€Å"journey† through heroes lives. The most rewarding of these is that of Pai and her grandfather. At the beginning of the film, we see that Koro genuinely cares for his granddaughter, but his disappointment about her gender is evident. As for Pai, all she wants to do is to earn Koros respect this point is brightly illustrated in the scene where she gives a speech dedicated to Koro. Though the film has a strong female character, there are still male dominant elements throughout it. So â€Å"The Whale Rider† shows deep levels of character development: as we see Koros great sadness, Nannys love for the family, and how Pais world is slowly crashing down around her. Pai is just a young girl in the beginning of the film, and a leader in the end. It is shown that all people have their depth of sadness, yet in this sadness we can find out what truly connects us with those we love. Problems shown in â€Å"Whale rider† â€Å"Whale Rider† is a great example of the problems that many cultures and families are facing around the world. The main social issue that is brought up by the film is the function of the woman in a world controlled mostly by men. The theme ofâ€Å"Whale Rider†is female empowerment is not unique, but the context in which it is presented is very interesting and unusual. This is a hot issue of many cultures through the world even today, as women try to gain a respectable place by hard working. The movie shows this visually and thematically all throughout the story. It is a film for everyone who wants to learn the story of a young girl, her future and her success in a â€Å"mens world†. When the audience is watching the film, they compare their own family experiences with the ones in the story. From this point of view, the film establishes a personal form of communication in the family, despite all cultural, racial, and geographical boundaries. So it may be considered as the film about interpersonal relations. Conclusion â€Å"Whale Rider† is a unique, untypical and fascinating film. It is not just a family film, just an Australian film it is a film that can touch the hearts of millions. The film is from New Zealand, though it has many Australian elements, it shows the connection between the land and the native people. The old culture is continuously struggling to keep alive, to keep its people, its unigue traditions and customs, in a quickly changing world, that leaves the past behind. The film shows New Zealanders, as an example for the rest of the world, that the past civilizations and cultures can continue to live on in harmony with todays world. â€Å"Whale Rider† shows so many interesting and emotional themes: failure and hope, strength, and determination, all of them are witnessed in the points of past, present, and future ideals.

Somewhere Under my Rainbow :: essays papers

Somewhere Under my Rainbow When you are little, the whole world feels like a big playground. Your dreams are big and your hopes are always high. When you are little, your biggest worry is who will get the big swing at recess. As a child I had a very vivid imagination and a best friend whose imagination was even livelier than mine. I was living in Conyers, Georgia the summer it all happened. I was a second grader, but my best friend Stephanie was only in the first grade. Both of our parents were at work and had left my older sister, Kim, in charge of us. She was sixteen years old with a haughty attitude. Most of the time she let us go our own way, while she talked on the phone and groomed herself. Today was no different than any other day that she had kept us. We left the house around 3:00pm and hadn’t been back since. Sweat poured down our foreheads as we sat on Stephanie’s front lawn. Stephanie was a plain girl with long stringy blond hair, the shade of honey mustard and brown eyes whom faded into the sun. Although her looks didn’t show it, she had a spark about her. She had a spark that most kids, at the age of seven, didn’t have. â€Å"So , what can we do? It’s hot but neither of us have a pool. There isn’t a kid within three blocks of here, and I’m bored!† she exclaimed, with am agitated look upon her face. â€Å"I don’t know, but it sure is hot. Hey! Let’s go in your basement and see what’s in there. I promise to go first!† I told her. If there were anything in the world Stephanie feared more than hell, it was her basement. She had feared it since she was tall enough to see down the dark and empty staircase. She had never been down there, but the thought of it’s contents drove her wild. â€Å"Okay but only on my terms. First of all, you go first. And we are only going for a minute. Oh, and one more thing, if I get scared, I’m coming back up. Okay?† she told me. I agreed to her terms and we headed into her house.

Solar Energy May Save the Earth Essays -- Power Environment Global War

Solar Energy May Save the Earth Abstract: The current energy situation with fossil fuels as the main source of the world’s energy has two main flaws: fossil fuels contribute to global warming via the greenhouse effect and they are limited in the quantity that remains. Solar power solves both of these problems and can be captured by utilizing photovoltaic cells. However, photovoltaic cells have their own drawbacks due to their high costs of installation and maintenance. The world currently functions through the use of fossil fuels. However, fossil fuels possess two significant disadvantages. Fossil fuels harm the global environment because they enhance the greenhouse effect by releasing carbon dioxide, and they release other harmful gases such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide.1 Also, fossil fuels are limited and will run out in the near future if current rates of consumption are maintained. Photovoltaic cells that convert solar energy to electrical energy solve both of these problems. Although the production of photovoltaic cells causes some pollution, photovoltaic cells do not emit harmful gases nor do they pollute the environment. Solar energy is virtually unlimited since the Sun will continue its fusion reaction and provide light energy to the Earth. Solar energy cannot be absorbed on dark or cloudy days, but if it can be stored, solar energy gathered from luminous periods can be used during those dim days. Photovoltaic cells have an estimated lifetime of approximately 20 years and if 100-watt photovoltaic cells are used, they will produce an equivalent amount of energy as fossil fuels that will create two tons of carbon dioxide as a byproduct.2 At a superficial glance, solar power seems very promising since the sun p... ...gy. â€Å"Solar Energy Technologies Program.† 22 May 2008. 4. Public Finance and Taxation Essay

There are varying definitions of what public sector economics is and what topics it covers. In a layman’s language Public economics is the application of economics to the activities undertaken by the state. Black et al. defines public sector economics as â€Å"the field of economics which studies the nature, principles, and economic consequences of government expenditure, taxation, financing and the regulatory actions undertaken in the non-profit making government sector†. Thus it looks at the efficiency of various approaches used by government in its day to day operations. For the government uses economic policy instruments which are designed to influence economic behavior in order to achieve certain outcomes. The government has various goals which it pursues they include; i) Macro-economic stability ii) Enhanced economic growth iii) Balance of payment stability iv) Income distribution. The ultimate goal of these policies is to improve people’s welfare. As already mentioned government uses instrument of fiscal and monetary policy to achieve its goal. The use of government expenditure and taxation to influence economic outcome is referred to as fiscal policy. Fiscal policy is often outlined through the annual budget which is presented to parliament every year. The budget outlines its objectives in the budget and how these are going to be achieved. On the other Monetary policy is aimed at influencing the supply of money and consequently economic growth. The central Bank is an independent arm of the state which is mandated with running the monetary policy. In Zambia, monetary policy is the responsibility of the Bank of Zambia. In public sector economics we study the impact of instrument of fiscal policy on economic efficiency. Instruments of fiscal policy include; i) Expenditure ii) Taxation iii) Financing iv) Regulations The first two involves the procurement and spending of the government funds on various programs such as public infrastructure, education, health and public security. Example the government collects revenue using tax and spends the revenue on education, health, roads etc. in economic terms the use of these two constitutes the direct mobilization and allocation of scarce resources. In contrast, regulation entails a law or administratively proclaiming an enforceable instruction that leads to a different allocation of private sector resources than would apply in the absence of government intervention. That is allocation resources are influenced indirectly. Example the government through the Environmental Council of Zambia has put regulations to curb environmental damage; this has lead to increased investment in environmentally friendly technology by private firms. This is something the profit seeking private sector would not have done if there was no government intervention. PUBLIC FINAN CE AND IDEOLOGY Opinions on how government should function in the economic sphere are influenced by the ideological views concerning the relationship between the state and the individual. Political philosophers have distinguished two major approaches. These approaches are the organic view and the mechanistic view of government. Organic View of Government In this view society is considered as a natural organism and the government is the heart of such an organism. Society is an organic whole, just as the human body. Each individual is a constituent part of the organism just like a body part. In this view an individual has significance only as a part of the community and the good of the individual is defined with respect the good of the whole. A person’s action is seen as important if it leads to the improvement of the wellbeing of society. In Plato’s view, ‘an activity of citizen is only desirable if it leads to a just society’. In this view, the goals of society are set by the state which attempts to lead society, toward their realization. The goals of society do differ from one state to another. For example Plato conceived that the goal of government was the achievement of a golden age in which human activities would be guided by rationality. In short society strived to achieve a state in which the decisions of all individuals and the state were rational. So society was support all activities which would lead to the achievement of this goal. In Adolf Hitler’s view, the state’s goal was the achievement of social purity. He envisaged the creation of a supper race. To achieve this goal the state supported all activities which were aimed removing human impurities. They include bizarre actions such as extermination of Jews, physically disabled people and invasion of all countries to ensure that his goals are achieved over the world. The Grand Ayatollah Khomeini argued that the goal of society is to create good believers. Thus all actions of individuals and the state should be aimed at creating a cadre of believers. Closer home, Kaunda envisaged that the goal of society was the attainment of a just society. He coined the concept of human centered development or Humanism. In this ideology he argued all the actions of individuals and government should be aimed achieving a society in which all persons are equal to each other. Proponents of the organic view argue that certain goals are natural for the societal organism such as pursuit of sovereignty over some geographical area. From a policy perspective, the organic view emphasizes combating poverty and equity issues notably redistribution of income as justification for government intervention. In addition, this view tends to support existence of a large government. That is government has a large part to play in of the nation’s activities. Mechanistic View of Government In this view government is not an organistic part of society, but it is a creation of people to better achieve their individual goals. Here government is seen as a reflection of individual preferences or tastes. In short, society is a mirror of individual wants and needs. In this case, government intervention is only justifiable if it leads to individual welfare maximization. An individual will only support a government if it helps him/her to achieve their individual goals. Example government should protect individuals from violence. To do so the individuals gives government coercive power. In Adam Smith view, Government should protect society from violence and invasion from other states. This view advocates for government intervention only to correct market failures and letting the market decide who gets what. In addition, the role of government should be limited to certain public works such as roads, bridges, sewer, and airports. These are infrastructures which make society function. There are several divergent views within the mechanistic view. Some of these are; i) Libertarians View which argue against any further role in the economy beyond providing justice and protecting individual liberty. ii) Social democrats believe that sustained government intervention is need for the good of individuals. These interventions can be as diverse as safety regulations at work place, banning racial discrimination, welfare payments to the poor. In totality, the mechanistic approach focuses relatively more on the efficiency of markets and economic growth. ROLE OF THE STATE 1. Equity and Efficiency Principles Pareto Efficiency-occurs when it is not possible to improve the welfare of some people without making the welfare anyone worse. An economic system that is not Pareto efficient implies that it is possible to change resource allocation without making any one worse off. Example if an economic system is not Pareto Optimal it is possible to increase consumption by one group and reduce for others without making them feel worse off. This is known as Pareto Improvement. Pareto improvement occurs when a change to a different allocation makes at least one individual better off without making any individual worse off. To make us under this lets assume that; i) There are two individuals A and B, ii) There are two goods X and Y, iii) There are two factors of production Labor (L) and Capital (K) iv) We assume that we have a static economy such that XA+XB=X and YA+YB=Y Exchange Efficiency or efficiency in consumption Efficiency in consumption is achieved when the marginal rates of substitution are equal for all persons; MRSXYA=MRSXYB The Marginal Rate of Substitution is simply the slope of indifference curve. ∆∆Y ∆X X MRS=-∆Y∆X If you have a utility function: uX,Y=U0 totally differentiating MUxdX+MUydY=0 MRSxy=-dYdX=MUxMUy In the Edgeworth box efficiency is achieved where the indifference curves are tangent; Lets pick a point such as ‘e’. At point ‘e’ it is possible to make person A better without making person B worse off. This can be done by moving along Indifference Curve no B2 to point d. At point‘d’ the welfare of person A improves because he moves from a lower indifference curve A2 to a higher indifference curve A3. The improvement for person A continues until point ‘c’ where the indifference curves are equal. At point ‘c’ it is not possible to make any Pareto improvement. At point ‘e’ we have MRSXYA>MRSXYB This also true for point ‘d’. This outcome of Pareto efficiency is only possible under perfect competition. This is because in perfect competition all consumers face the same market prices for these goods. That is they equate the marginal rate of substitution to the same price ratio. MRSXYA=MRSXYB=PxPy Each individual maximizes their utility function subject to the budget constraint. That they maximize the following function U0=uX,Y subject to I=XPx+YPy therefore the langrangian L=UX,Y+ÃŽ »(I-XPx-YPy) First order conditions ∂L∂X=MUx-ÃŽ »Px=0 and ∂L∂Y=MUY-ÃŽ »PY=0 MUX=ÃŽ »Px and MUy=ÃŽ »Py solving simultaneously we getMUxMUy=PxPy=-dYdX=MRS Therefore, each person will equate their MRS to the price ratio. Production Efficiency Production efficiency requires that the marginal rates of technical substitution are equal in the production of good X and good Y. That is MRTSLKX=MRTSLKY In the Edgeworth box this requires this occurs where the isoquants are tangent to each other. The marginal rate of technical substitution is simply the slope of the isoquant. K L U0 ∆K Given an isoquant QL,K=Q0 totally differntiating we get MPldL+MPKdK=0 MRTSLK=-dKdL=MPlMPK Lets have a factor Edge worth box to make our illustration easier. Remember from our study of micro-economics we defined an isoquant as a curve that represent the combination of labor and capital which give the same level of output. In the diagram below production of X uses labor from point X to the right and capital from X upwards. For good Y it is the opposite of good X. All points along XPY are Pareto efficient in the sense that it is not possible to improve or increase the output of good X or good Y without reducing either of them. To under this lets pick point ‘a’ which is not along XPY. This point is not Pareto optimal because it is possible to improve the production of X without reducing the output of good Y simply by moving along the isoquant no Y2 output of good X improves/increases to X2 from X1. Pareto efficiency is only possible under a perfectly competitive market system because all produces face the same factor prices (PK and PL). Thus Pareto Optimality condition reduces to: MRTSLKX=MRTSLKY=PKPL Proof: Q0=QL,K subject to C=LPl+YPy therefore the langrangian L=QL,K+ÃŽ »(C-LPl-KPk) First order conditions ∂L∂L=MPl-ÃŽ »Pl=0 and ∂L∂K=MPk-ÃŽ »Pk=0 MPl=ÃŽ »Pl and MPK=ÃŽ »PK solving simultaneously we getMPlMPk=PlPk=-dLdK=MRTS Therefore all firms will be minimizing their costs while facing the same factor prices. OVERALL EFFICIENCY This requires that the production possibility frontier (PPF) and the social welfare function are tangent. That is; MRSXY=MRTXY. X SWF PPF Y The PPF shows the maximum quantity of good X and good Y that can be produced using the existing technology and resources. An increase in the amount of labor and capital available or an increase in the level of technology will make the PPF to move outwards to the right. All points inside the PFF are attainable but not efficient and all points the right of the PPF are not attainable. To achieve, the Marginal Rate of Substitution for society (slope of SWF) must be equal to the PxPy and the marginal rate of transformation (slope of PPF) must be equal to the MCxMCy or resources must be fully utilized. In perfect competition, P=MC. Hence it is possible to achieve the following outcome; MRSXY=PxPy=MRTXY=MCXMCY. Thus a perfectly competitive outcome results into a Pareto optimal allocation of resources. It is important to note that Pareto optimal allocation may not be the best outcome in the sense that it does not consider equity. That is there is no equity consideration. Equity is the fair d istribution of resources in sources. There are two concepts of equity used in economics horizontal and Vertical Equity. Horizontal equity means that people in similar positions/situation must be treated equally. Example if two people have HIV and the same level of CD4 count they should have equal access to ARVs. The only condition is that they are positive and have the same CD4. Vertical equity means that people in different economic situations must be treated differently from a poor person when allocating resources. This is because treating them in the same manner is not equitable. MARKET FAILURE A market failure occurs when the market fails to allocate resources according the Pareto criterion. In other words, a market failure is a situation in which the market fails to allocate resources efficiently according to the Pareto Criterion. Fundamental Theorem of Welfare Economics Welfare economics is the systematic method of evaluating the economic implications of alternative resource allocation. It answers the following questions; i) Is a given resource allocation efficient? ii) Who wins and looses under various allocations? First Fundamental Theorem of welfare Economics- It states that if there is a perfectly competitive market and consumer tastes are convex then any equilibrium will be a Pareto optimal allocation of resources. In short, the competitive market allocates resources efficiently without any need for government intervention. Further, the theorem states that the price from the perfectly competitive market induces selfish individuals independently maximizing their welfare, to bring the economy to a socially optimal state. That is prices rise in response to excess demand and they fall in response to excess supply. Normatively this theorem says that use free market system to allocate resources. The Second Fundamental Theorem of Welfare Economics states that â€Å"society can attain any Pareto optimal allocation of resources by making a suitable assignment of initial endowment of resources and then letting the people freely trade with each other as in the Edgeworth box.† To help us underst and this lets relook at the contract curve which gives the Pareto Optimal outcomes.

Chamdi has to understand that this is world and there are people who say no, there are ill-mannered people, and there are public violences. From these awful experiences, Chamdi understands that his dreams were rather idealistic and he has to bury them and travel frontward. The narrative point of position in the Song of Kahunsha is Limited Omniscient in turn over tense. The writer uses a alone point of position. The reader merely knows about the ideas and feelings for merely one individual. This individual is the chief character and is besides the supporter. The narrative is told from Chamdi s eyes. here are a f ew illustrations of this Chamdi runs his custodies crossways his ribs, He tries to force his ribs in, but it is of no usage ( Chapter 1, Page 6 ) He stares at the H2O in the well. She realizes how the braggart(a) male she one time loved is now merely a bantam portion of her yesteryear.I dreamed that love would neer decease. I dreamed that God would be forgiving. whence I was immature and fearless and all dreams were do and wasted. These lines briefly depict the adult female person s dreams. In her dreams, love neer dies and God is forgiving. Subsequently, she states that she when she was immature, she was fearless. This is because when you are immature, you merely have no thought of all of the possible dangers skulking around you. You merely do nt hold any of life s experiences on your side. In the last line, she states that all of her dreams were do and wasted.. To me, this is likely the most of import line in this vocal because when you dream, you have no boundaries. This adult female had no boundaries in her dream and she applied the same dream to existent life, being unaware of the possible dangers. She applied it and she suffered her dream was shattered to pieces. But he was deceased when fall came and I still dream that he ll come to me.These two lines obligation the rough truth the adult female s love left her all entirely but the hapless adult female still believes that he will certainly come back one twenty-four hours. The second line provinces that you can maintain dreaming, even though i t tycoon non come true, everyone still has the power to dream.I had a dream my life would be, so different from the snake pit indoleacetic acida?m life, and now life has killed the dream I dreamedThe last poetry is contrasting the adult female s existent life to how she had dreamt it to be. She has described her life as snake pit and her dream was the entire antonym of what she is right now. Her life is what she is populating so it has killed her glorious dream. It is cardinal for us to woolgather, otherwise we ll neer be able to accomplish or carry through anything in life. We must besides be ready for alteration, no involvement how tragic it may be. The message of this vocal is that there are dreams that merely can non be and we should merely allow them travel. The subject of this vocal is Innocence vs Experience. The adult female was really guiltless because this was her really showtime love and relationship. She walked off from it as an experient individual in love and relation ships. She now has recognize that this is world and from this twenty-four hours on, she will look at relationships in a wholly different position. Associating the subject of this vocal to the novel was a challenge but with some job work outing accomplishments, nil is impossibleAt the beginning of this vocal, the adult female describes herself as a really guiltless lady. Similar to the novel, Chamdi is a really guiltless psyche and he has just any experience with his milieus. In the middle(a) poetries of the vocal, the adult female describes all of the events that have happened to her. In the lifting action of the novel, Chamdi is seeking to last the streets of Mumbai. At the terminal of the vocal, the adult female compares the incident to a incubus and she develops into an experient adult female who will look at things in a wholly different manner. In the terminal of this novel, Chamdi additions experience from everything that was propel at him in the lifting action of this novel. Overall, both characters start off inexperienced person and their experiences replace their artlessness at the terminal.Associating the vocal to existent life, you truly do nt cognize what life is traveling to throw at you, whether it is similar to the vocal ( adult female losing her love ) , or similar to the novel ( lasting rough conditions ) . Whatever it is, you have to be prepared. From mundane obstructions, you will get down to replace your artlessness with experience.Jamal Malik is the chief character and is the supporter. From his physical visual aspect, he seems really tough and intimidating. After oppugning Jamal for the bulk of the film, Sergeant Srinivas draws to a decision that Jamal is surely non rip offing and is an guiltless psyche. After watching Slumdog Millionaire, I have drawn to a decision that the chief struggle in this film is Man vs. Man. From the beginning, Jamal s dream and end is to reunite with Latika, his true love.Man vs. Man is the dominant struggle because there are many adversaries in this novel who try to closure Jamal from making his end. Maman is merely one illustration, Jamal and Salim made it safely onto the train but Latika was captured by Maman s work forces. Therefore, Latika was segregated from Jamal. After long old ages of seperation, Jamal and Latika reunite. Latika ge ts separated from Jamal once more when she is forced to day of the month a in-between aged plenteous adult male and as a consequence, she is forced to travel off. Experience is displayed absolutely in the film Slumdog Millionaire. Changes like this occur over clip with many interactions with the outside environment. The subject was foremost introduced when Jamal is on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, when he is one inquiry off from one million dollars. This is connoting that Jamal is nt guiltless and that throughout his life, he s had a big assortment of escapades and these experiences have helped him reply all of the inquiries taking up to the concluding in quiry. The novel has many flashbacks, one for each of the inquiries that Jamal has answered. With these unusual escapades, Jamal lost all of his artlessness and became an experient adult male. For illustration, when Jamal was a bogus circuit usher at the Taj Mahal, he recieved an American ampere-second dollar meter from one of the tourers as a tip. Coincidentally, there was a inquiry on the game show about the American hundred dollar measure. ( Whose face is on the American hundred dollar measure benjamin Franklin ) .This relates to the novel The Song of Kahunsha absolutely because in the beginning of the novel, Chamdi, the chief character and the supporter, starts off really guiltless. Through his many existent life experiences, Chamdi grows both physically and mentally into an experient adult male. The same goes for the film, from his first flashback, Jamal is really guiltless because he had no interactions with the outside universe. In his last flashback, Jamal has gone throu gh a big assortment of escapades which have transformed him into an experient adult male. You can keep this alteration from his actions and from what he says. Overall, both Jamal and Chamdi start off inexperienced person and through their existent life interactions, they evolve into experient work forces.Anosh Irani is a novelist and dramatist who was natural in the twelvemonth of 1974.
